Itinerary 'Wine Route: from Trento to Bolzano'.

Total length: 250 km

A route dedicated to the pleasures of good food and wine… On the ”Wine Route” in the Adige Valley, which winds along winding roads and alternates vineyards and wine cellars with villages and ancient castles, and on the ”Chestnut Route” in the Isarco Valley among vineyards and chestnut groves, discovering food and wine itineraries that highlight local products according to the seasons.

Schematic route

Departing from Trento, take the SS 12 Brenner road.
At Lavis, turn towards the Cembra valley on SS 612.
Turn towards Faedo and continue to San Michele all’Adige.
Follow the signs for the motorway along the SS 43 road towards Mezzolombardo.
Leave state road 43 and turn towards Thun Castle.
Return to SS 43 towards Mezzocorona.
At Mezzocorona, return to SS 43 and take SS 12 towards Bolzano.
At Salorno/Salurn take the Strada del Vino.
Head towards Cortina/Kurtinig on the Wine Road, Magrè/Margreid, Cortaccia/Kurtatsch, Termeno/Tramin and Caldaro/Kaltern.
At Caldaro/Kaltern take the road to the Mendel Pass/Mendelpass.
Mendola Pass down to Fondo in Val di Non
Head towards Castelfondo, Proves, Lauregno
Take the provincial road to Val d’Ultimo, San Pancrazio
Go down to Lana, Marlengo, Foresta, Birreria Forst, Lagundo, Merano
From Merano take the Val Passiria, San Leonardo, Passo del Giovo
Descend to Sterzing, head towards Campo di Trens, Mules, Fortezza, Bressanone/Brixen
From Bressanone go down to Chiusa/Klausen and up to Velturno/Felthurns
Return to Chiusa/Klausen and head to Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck
From Ponte Gardena go up to Barbiano towards Renon Collalbo
From Collalbo go down to Bolzano
