Total length: 111 km

CEMBRA VALLEY km.111
Trento – Civezzano – Lases – Piramidi di Segonzano – Sover – Stramentizzo – Faver – Lases- Albiano – Santa Colomba – Civezzano – Pergine Valsugana – Levico Terme

From Trento you reach the Mochena crossroads (km.4) and turn right for Civezzano (km.7), where you can visit the Church of the Assunta, one of the most beautiful Gothic-Renaissance monuments in Trentino. We continue past the small village of Torchio and reach Lake Lases (km.16). The entire area is characterised by porphyry quarries, extracted in large quantities and exported all over the world.
Continue on to Sevignano (km.20). The route offers splendid views of the valley furrowed by the Avisio river with its terraced vineyards. The valley, whose main town is Cembra, is of very ancient origin, as witnessed by finds from prehistoric and Roman times, and is an important wine-growing area. Particularly prized is the excellent grappa, which is distilled according to ancient methods handed down from generation to generation.

We then reach Segonzano (km.24) where, on the right, we find the famous earth pyramids, known as the ‘òmeni di Segonzano’, an interesting water erosion phenomenon. Up to 20 metres high, some are protected at the top by huge porphyry boulders. From Segonzano we continue to Sover (km.33) from which we reach Stramentizzo (km.46) crossing the bridge over the reservoir.
From Sover you can return to Levico Terme via the Pinè plateau by following itinerary no. 5.
You then descend along the right bank of the valley, which offers a splendid view of the cultivated terraces. We pass the characteristic villages of Grauno, Grumes and Faver (km.71) where we turn left at the fork for Piazzo and cross the Avisio stream to reach the other side of the valley. Nearby are the ruins of Segonzano Castle, depicted in a watercolour by Albrecht Dürer. We then reach Sevignano (km.76) and continue to the small lake of Lases (km.80). To the right we take the fork for Albiano (km.82) from where we reach Lake S.Colomba. Situated at an altitude of about 900 m, the small lake is surrounded by woods and grassy glades and is an ideal place for easy walks. Continue, passing through the village of S.Agnese, to Civezzano (km.94), from where you descend to Pergine Valsugana and then return to Levico Terme (km.111).
